My Lecture at Algebra Bernays University in Zagreb

  I’m pleased to inform you that on November 13th, I held a lecture at   Algebra Bernays University   in Zagreb. The lecture was titled “Recognitions and Purpose” and explored the role of design in a social context, balancing accolades with the creation of art that communicates values, shapes perspectives, and inspires responsibility. Algebra Bernays University is part of the largest private educational organization in the Republic of Croatia and the region, present in more than 20 cities throughout Croatia. Student's Tolerance Poster in Zagreb Vandalized

  Inspired by the travelling Tolerance Poster Show , Tomislav Bobinec, a professor at FH JOANNEUM Design & Kommunikation in Graz, Austria, came up with the idea and organized a workshop with design students from the Institute of Design & Communication of the FH JOANNEUM in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Dortmund, Germany, the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia and the School of Design University of Zagreb, Croatia. Posters created at the workshop are of a wide range of design approaches and became part of the “Students for Tolerance” exhibition. After being exhibited in Graz at the Design Monat festival, in Berlin during the Berlin Design Week and in Ljubljana, the exhibition took place in the Republic of Croatia Square in Zagreb, which is in front of the School of Applied Arts and Design and the Museum of Arts and Crafts.   This morning, a “citizen” told the police that one of the posters from the exhibition offended him with its content. "Students for Tolerance" Show

Tonight was the opening of the "Student for Tolerance" show. The poster exhibition explores the question of what tolerance is and  how it can be represented visually.  Design students from Dortmund, Graz, Ljubljana and Zagreb dealt with the question of how strong visual concepts and messages on the topic of tolerance can be developed with the help of various design techniques. The results were translated by the students into individual posters, which are presented as part of the exhibition “Students for Tolerance”. The resulting works are characterized by diverse design approaches and range from the classic poster to the mixed reality poster to  Tonight is the opening of the Student for Tolerance show. Tolerance Workshop, "Students for Tolerance"

On April 11th, the workshop "Students for Tolerance" kicked off with my lecture to the students from Zagreb/Croatia, Dortmund/Germany, Ljubljana/Slovenia and Graz/Austria. Call for Solidarity and Togetherness by High School Students from Rijeka

I am happy to share with you this news that appeared yesterday in the Croatian newspaper   Novi list . One of those beautiful side effects of the Tolerance Poster Show. " For the next week, the windows of the City of Rijeka on Korzo will be decorated with posters of students from the First Croatian Gymnasium in Rijeka and children from the My Place Under the Sun program at the Center for the Culture of Dialogue.  The posters that will be placed on Tuesday carry important messages from students and call for solidarity, and were created as a continuation of the international Erasmus + project »p.s. Initiate Solidarity ”which is being implemented in France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Slovenia and Croatia, where 24 schools are involved in the project, and the holder is the Center for Peace Studies in Zagreb.  PRHG students previously sent postcards to their fellow citizens with messages indicating various social problems, and later, under the leadership of Diana Rosat...

2nd Tolerance Posters Show in Zagreb, Croatia

On November 16th, the International Day of Tolerance , the Tolerance Poster Show was displayed in the center of Zagreb on the fence of the Botanical Garden . Here is a link to a short video of the show . Unfortunately only 24 hours later, the show was "attacked" by Neo-Nazis graffitis. On the posters, they wrote "NDH", which is the abbreviation for Nezavisna Država Hrvatska (Independent State of Croatia) a Second World War puppet state of Nazi Germany. On others, they graffitied the letter "U" which is the symbol for Ustaša the Second World War Croatian fascist organization. And they even wrote "Smrt Srbozločincima" (Death to the Serbian criminals). Luckily, the organizers of the show figured out how to remove this hate speech and the symbols.
